The Importance of Sleep in Early Childhood Development
Getting children to go to sleep on time is a universal struggle that most parents face — the little rascals never seem to get tired!
Sleep, however, is an indispensable part of a healthy lifestyle and is essential for a child’s development. Multiple studies have shown that kids who regularly get an adequate amount of sleep have improved learning, memory, attention, and overall mental and physical health. Not getting enough sleep can, on the other hand, lead to negative conditions like high blood pressure, obesity, and even depression.
As a compassionate christian preschool in Florida, we at Little Lords and Ladies Learning Academy care about your children’s overall development. So, we encourage parents to set a consistent bedtime routine to help their little ones get to bed early. As soon as the sun starts setting, help your kids wind down for the day.
- Let their kids take a warm bath
- Stop the electronics/screen at least an hour before bedtime
- Read their little ones a book to help them relax before sleep
- Limit their kid’s snacks or drinks that contain sugar and caffeine before bed
Help your children get the most out of child education — make sure they get the right amount of sleep to improve their learning capacity.
