Our Preschool in Orlando, Florida integrates theme learning for our toddlers, which we incorporate in the program we dub as “The Creative Curriculum”. One of the themes we utilize is learning about animals. We recognize that animals are very visible and easily distinguishable even by toddlers.
We also believe that getting more and more acquainted with different animals can help the toddler develop in the following areas:
- Better Pronunciation
Learning about animals allows the toddler to also learn about their names, how they sound, and how they look. The more they mention about “cow”, “horse”, or “pig”, the more they become more familiar with how these letters are being read and delivered correctly.
- Develops Sentence Construction
Communication is a great treasure we preserve in our Christian Preschool in Florida. Animal lessons can help your child to improve with the way they construct their sentences, and consequently, improve the way they communicate with you. Instead of saying “Cow moo.”, they can eventually say, “Cow says moo.” This development can affect other areas.
- Enhances Ability to Categorize
The more that your child is exposed with different animals, the more they can recognize that some animals are commonly found in the zoo, others are pets at home, others are found under the sea. This recognition is the early stage of their categorization skill, which is helpful for their school-age learning.
- Improves Social Skills
Your child’s knowledge about animals and animal sounds can equip them in displaying their moods when other children are present. They can play with these sounds with other children, which can be helpful in helping develop their imitation skills and patience.
- Caring for Animals
In our calling to provide quality Child Education, we also recognize that animals are creations of God. With this, children can also be taught to value and care for animals as God’s stewards.
